Family Discipleship Foundations

The Bible teaches that the primary responsibility for children's spiritual growth lies with you, the parent.  "And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.  You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise." Deuteronomy 6:6-7.  The Next Generation ministries has identified the following foundations to encourage and support you as you disciple your children.

Praying With Your Child

We encourage parents to pray with and for their children daily.  By praying with them, children learn to praise and thank God for who He is, and they begin to see God as the source and authority of all decisions. Parents are also encouraged to pray for their children: for their salvation, for their relationships, for the their thoughts and decisions.

Committing to Church

We encourage parents to establish the importance of church by making it as regular as going to work, school or sports.  Church attendance is essential to learning Bible knowledge, encourages connections with other supportive adults and reinforces Christian values taught at home.

"So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ."  Romans 10:17

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."  Mark 6:33

Capturing Daily God Moments

We encourage parents to create faith-filled moments by helping kids see God in their everyday life: appreciating God's creation, thanking Him for His provisions and recognizing the way He works in all things.
